In the Logistics Field, What Are the Applications of Rfid Technology?

the specific application of RFID technology in each link in the logistics field
The application of RFID technology to the logistics field can realize real-time monitoring of all links of goods from production, warehousing, transportation, distribution, to retail, and even return processing. This not only greatly improves the degree of automation, but also greatly reduces the error rate.

Therefore, the combination of radio frequency identification technology RFID and modern logistics management will greatly improve the intelligent level and service level of each link of logistics management. The following is the specific application of RFID technology in various links in the logistics field.

Production link

The raw products move on the assembly line, and when they arrive at the station, the workers remove the recycled products for the assembly of spare parts and then put them on the return line to complete all the processes after completion. The system mainly contains two or more fixed RFID readers. Each product is tagged with RFID.

When the products in production with RFID tags pass through the fixed reader in sequence, the reader will read the tag information on the product and upload the data to the system host computer. And then judge the completion of the products in production and the operation of each station.

Warehousing storage link

RFID tags are attached to the warehouse locations, pallets, containers, and even bills. The tags contain component specifications, serial numbers, and other information. Electronic tags are used to represent the locations, pallets, containers, etc., and the results of the logistics movement of materials are labeled with the reader performing recording and automatic processing. Managers can use this technology to quickly grasp accurate information about the inventory situation.

Transport link

Attach RFID tags to the surface of the goods (for example, on containers and outer packaging), and install readers at stations, docks, airports, high-speed exits, etc. After the reader reads the information of the electronic tag, it transmits the location information of the goods to the database of the cargo dispatch center to update the cargo information in the logistics network accurately and in time.

If the cargo information is found to be incorrect, the data processing unit can immediately compare the missing tag code and drive the RFID reader to find the specified tag. When it cannot be read, it will report to the monitoring and dispatching center to alarm, thereby preventing the loss and theft of the cargo.

The information during the entire transportation will be transmitted to the monitoring and dispatching center. Through the accurate calculation of the weight and volume of the cargo, the problem of the difficulty of calculating the no-load running distance index in the cost management of combined transportation can be solved.

Delivery link

When the goods affixed with radio frequency tags arrive at the distribution center, when the pallet passes through the reader at the entrance, the reader will read the contents of the tags on all the boxes on the pallet.

The system checks this information with the shipping record, detects possible errors, and then updates the RFID tag to the latest product storage location and status. This ensures precise inventory control, and can accurately understand information such as the cargo box in transit, the origin and destination of the transshipment, and the expected arrival time.

Retail link

RFID can improve the inventory management of retailers, realize timely replenishment, effectively track transportation and inventory, improve efficiency, and reduce errors. At the same time, smart tags can monitor the expiration date of certain time-sensitive commodities; stores can also use the RFID system to automatically scan and charge at the checkout counter to replace manual collection.

RFID tags in the sales link of the supply chain terminal, especially in the supermarket, avoid manual intervention in the tracking process and can generate 100% accurate business data, so it has a huge appeal.

RFID technology has penetrated into all aspects of logistics supply chain management and has produced huge benefits for the production, warehousing, and transportation in the process of each supply chain. It has improved the availability of inventory, reduced the corresponding manpower and inventory costs, and improved operations.

This is an informationized process, which achieves the purpose of process optimization and system management, and improves and maximizes the economic benefits of the logistics distribution center.
