The Application of RFID Technology in Animal Husbandry
The first step in RFID based animal breeding and tracking is to install an electronic ID card on the cow, creating a permanent digital file for each animal, uniquely identifying its attributes. The basic methods for installing electronic tags on animals include: collar style, ear tag style, injectable style, and pill style electronic tags.
RFID technology can be applied to the entire process of animal husbandry food production, including breeding, epidemic prevention and sterilization, product processing, food circulation, and other links. Standardized technical regulations and quality supervision measures are comprehensively introduced, and a food supply chain tracking and traceability system from farm to table is established. For example, the application on cows is as follows:
(1) The government takes the lead in building a meat food supervision platform, achieving information access and sharing among related enterprises and departments in various links of the supply chain, and achieving end-to-end monitoring from the production source to the retail process.
(2) The cattle breeding process is tracked through RFID technology and supporting means, integrated with the backend livestock production management system, and connected with the industry regulatory department's livestock quarantine and inspection system. At the same time, relevant information is input into the meat food supervision platform.
(3) The beef transportation process is monitored at different transportation nodes through RFID technology and supporting auxiliary means, achieving monitoring of the entire transportation process and providing activities such as pig quarantine inspection and transportation disinfection. At the same time, relevant information is input into the meat food supervision platform.
(4) In the process of slaughtering cattle, RFID technology and supporting means are used to verify and confirm the health status of cattle, integrate the backend management system of the slaughterhouse, and input relevant information into the meat food supervision platform.
(5) In the beef processing process, RFID technology is used in conjunction with barcode technology to achieve the correlation between cow information and beef information, and relevant information is input into the meat food supervision platform.
(6) The beef wholesale and retail process accelerates the efficiency of logistics through RFID technology, traces its source information through barcode technology, strengthens its market transaction management, and inputs relevant information into the meat food regulatory platform.
